My four year old likes games a little too much. He can often be found using cBeebies, his PS3, or on my iPhone. We do limit his computer time, then often end up playing games with him, assembling Lego, drawing smiley faces on a felt-tip coloured in sun, or racing Hex Bugs. These games are fun when you’re in the mood, but it made me wish there were games I could join in with on my phone and computer too.
It’s easy to hand him my phone on a train journey and watch him lose himself in Toca Boca doctor, or Ben 10 OmniGames, and there are loads of good iPhone games for kids – but what about when I want to play too?
So today I’d like to invent a series of games for parents and children to share and talk about. I’m sure there are a few out there if I sought them out, I might look up good old-fashioned snakes and ladders on iPhone, or are there other taking turn kind of games I might find? I’m sure there are unique ways to make family friendly sharing games on a phone, games that start a conversation and might get us giggling like we do when we play Pictionary or read a silly book. Right now my boy is usually plugged in and lost in some solitary game, it would be nice if we could both be plugged in sometimes and find fun playing together.
